But then again you might prefer the Kumars? That's your right too. [/QUOTE] Ah, playing the old 'Kumars card'? So, the only choice is between successful porn barons who prefer profit to trophies (unless they're buying them of course), or successful rag-trade merchants with a dodgy taste in kit? Not much of a choice, is it? |

I interpreted it as more unconditional support for Bruce from Gold. Let's get this straight: when our owners give a vote of confidence, it's a genuine one, not a "you'll be sacked in two weeks" one. The day Steve Bruce finally leaves this club is the day I believe it'll happen. |

of course relegation was a blow for the balance sheet, but the present owners have always stated their aim was the long term security of the club. I don't think blues are anywhere near the financial mess that other clubs find themselves in. The Kumars were just an example. DS and the Golds have always stated they would be willing to sell the club if someone came in with a sensible offer AND the best interests of the club at heart. Don't think they won't take action against SB if and when they feel it is necessary, but as stated before, they have their own timetable and the determination (and courage) to see it through. How many years have the current owners been at St Andrews? During that time they have demonstrated their long term commitment. Is the club not in better shape then it has been for years? Yes, relegation was a severe blow. Mistakes were made. But hands up all those who think they've never made a mistake. I'm one of the people who believe SB has done as best as he can, and as much as I think he ought to go now, I respect the right of the current owners to make the decisions. |

most boards are accountable for bad decisions broadly speaking we are in similar shape to that we had six or seven years ago except that we are all six or seven years older and the likelihood of us ever seeing blues win the cup or play in europe is consequently that much less most of the board's achievements took place in the first 3 or 4 seasons... since then they have been treading water |

Agreed they seemed to have reached a level and seem quite content to stick with it. They seem content to my eyes at least to be a yo-yo club and as long as we don't fall back into being a lower half championship side they're happy. It's been progress of a sort from where they found us and I guess it's what we've always been, but it's a bit disapointing because you do feel they could've moved the club on to another level but they haven't and after 13 years I doubt that they will. As has been said in other theards it is a puzzling to what exactly their motivation is and where exactly they're taking us. Going back to the original post it seems to me that Gold's comments were just another expression of that, if we're still in contention at the end of the month SB stays but if we lose a few and fall back into mid-table he's history. I think if there's going to be a change this season it's going to be in November or not at all. |
